We all want flawless looking skin and to achieve that may mean putting on makeup to cover up blemishes, pigmentation or uneven skin. But unless you set your makeup properly it can make your skin look cakey and worse.
So a great setting powder is a must. One that I discovered is the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder.
First off, I really like the packaging – it’s simple and sophisticated. I also really like the gold sifter as it holds the powder nice and low and doesn’t create a mess, it also doesn’t dispense too much powder which makes things a lot easier overall!
This is a finely-milled and weightless powder which smooths over the skin and gives a lovely natural looking finish. Only a small amount of powder is required and it glides over the skin wonderfully.
Unlike some other setting powders the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder doesn’t leave a grey or ashy cast – usually most noticeable around my eyes as I conceal a lot. It just sets the makeup without adding any kind of colour or cast on top which is perfect!
I don’t bake my makeup with it as I have dry skin so I just dust a light amount over my skin and it gives a flawless finish.
Now, does it last all day with absolutely no creasing? Afraid not, but it’s the closest any powder that I’ve used has come to doing so. I’m not a fan of reapplying makeup or powder during the day so I do sometimes, just with my finger (or a clean brush if I have one), smudge out the makeup and powder to cover up any creasing which is starting to emerge and to be honest that’s usually enough to keep me going.
At £45 it’s certainly not cheap but I’m impressed enough to overlook that in the name of a flawless and non-ashy look.
