I’ve always had problem skin and get breakouts very easily. Whether it’s because I’m eating lots of junk food or simply from heat, my skin is never fully clear.
So, cleansers and face masks, in particular, are important to me to help keep my skin as clear as possible.
A friend of mine introduced me to Aztec Indian Healing Clay about 5 months ago. I wasn’t sold on it immediately, especially when she told me it’s to be mixed with raw apple cider vinegar and smells awful! The end result, however, is brilliant (she promised me!). She described it as a clay that ‘sucks all the gunk out from your skin’. My intrigue spiked – although I still couldn’t get over the apple cider vinegar part! Eww!
But my friend has great skin, so I decided that if she swears by it I’d better give it a go and I went ahead and purchased it off Amazon. The ‘frequently brought together’ bundle also included Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and a facial mask bowl, both of which I also purchased.
Upon receiving my items I got to work straight away and mixed myself up a raw apple cider vinegar (still eww!) and Indian Healing Clay face mask.
The clay is a powder, which when mixed with the vinegar turns in to a smooth consistency and is very easy to work with and takes no more than a minute or so to make.
Now, I have to be honest, it STINKS! Really, stinks. So slathering it all over your face isn’t the most appealing of things to do but with my friends voice in my head telling me how great it is, I work my stinky apple cider vinegar clay mask all over my face. Now there’s really no getting away from all of it’s stinky glory!
30 splendid minutes later the mask is dried on my face and honestly you do get used to the smell after a while (5 months in and I actually barely notice it now). As I gently washed the mask off my face and even before it’s all completely off I could already tell that my skin felt smoother. It does leave your skin slightly red looking but that goes down within 15minutes (if you have sensitive skin I’d recommend doing a patch test just to be on the safe side – actually even if you don’t have sensitive skin a patch test is always worth doing first!)
From the first use I definitely noticed clearer and brighter looking skin and now I use it almost every week and it works wonders on my skin! I actually look forward to my face mask especially if I missed a week using it and know my skin needs to ‘have the gunk removed from it!’
There’s been times when I could see a spot beginning to form on my face and this clay has helped pull it out much quicker and heal faster than it would have done had I have not used the clay.
This is a definite re-purchase for me and a product that I’ve been telling my friends and family about and wanted to share with you all too!
Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried Aztec’s Indian Healing Clay and what you thought? I’d love to hear what you think!
Until next time, take care!
