Birchbox – October 2017

Hi Guys!

I received my October Birchbox earlier this week, here’s what I got!

Firstly the box is beautiful. I love the colours and the marble effect; very pretty!

The first beauty treat is amika, Perk Up Dry Shampoo. A good dry shampoo is my saviour when I have a ‘lazy day’ or ‘running late, no time to wash the hair day’. I haven’t tried the amika dry shampoo before but am looking forward to giving this a go. The brief says that this soaks up excess oil, has a fresh fragrance, adds texture and hydrates and strengthens strands to give you that extra day in between washes.

Next up I have the ModelCo, Contour Stick. This is a creamy formula with a lightweight texture to define your features. I swatched it on my hand and really like the formula and colour. You can blend it with a make-up sponge or with your fingers.

I’m excited for the next treat which is a Balance Me, Pure Skin Face Wash. It’s 99% natural and is designed to purify and refresh the skin without stripping away the skins natural barriers. As good as the make-up looks when it’s on your face a brilliant cleanser/face wash is a must for taking it off with without harming the skin!

Next, there is a Birchbox exclusive Marcella, BB Cream Golden Glow Illuminator. This is a multitasking BB cream which controls shine, evens skin tone, hydrates and calms redness. The light reflecting pigments in the cream adds a heathy glow. I’ve just tried this on my hand and actually quite liked it. When I read the ‘light reflecting pigments’ bit, it reminded me of another cream I once used which made my face look like I’d had glitter thrown on me, so I was a bit apprehensive of this, but it’s very natural looking and not a hint of ‘glitter on face’ threat!

Finally, another Birchbox exclusive Anatomicals, Grab Your Melons Shower Gel. A beauty treat plus a reminder to check your boobs ladies! This is a zesty body wash which cares for your skin and comes with a key message to take 5mins to check your boobs while you are lathering up in the shower!

Partnering with CoppaFeel! for Breast Cancer Awareness Month a CoppaFeel! Hijack sticker is included in every box so you know what signs to look and feel for while checking your boobs.

We all get told to check for lumps, but there’s more signs to look/feel for. Here’s what CoppaFeel! highlight in their reminder:

  • Changes in skin texture, eg, puckering/dimpling
  • Lumps and thickening
  • Nipple Discharge
  • Nipple Inversion and changes in direction
  • Swelling in armpit or around collar bone
  • Constant / unusual pain in breast or armpit
  • Sudden change in size or shape
  • Rash or crusting of or around nipple

I’m pleased such an important message has been included in this Birchbox. It’s important to check for early signs of cancer that your body may be giving you, which is the CoppaFeel! charity’s main aim – to stamp out late detection of breast cancer.

Another fabulous box with some great beauty treats and of course a very important health message.

Have you received your box? I’d love to know what you think if you’ve been able to try out the products! Let me know in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already (link on the right hand side)!
