I’ve heard a lot about Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and have wanted to try it out myself for some time.
Being a fan of some of Kiehl’s other products I purchased the oil – £38 for 30ml – with high expectations.
It comes in a gorgeous dark blue bottle and has a useful dropper top to dispense the oil with.
The oil itself is quite greasy and if you use too much it will leave your face oily and shiny. You only need a couple of drops and need to make sure you massage it into the skin fully before applying your moisturiser on top (if you use moisturiser on top that is, I sometimes don’t as it gets a bit too greasy).
I can see this being a great product to use over the winter months when my skin gets very dry and I need something to make my skin feel hydrated, but I probably wouldn’t use it as much over the summer months.
Some of the key ingredients include Lavender Essential Oil and Primrose Oil and there’s certainly a pretty strong scent of it in the oil to be mindful of if you don’t like strong scented products on your face – I actually quite liked it and the lavender is relaxing right before bedtime!
Since I started to use the Midnight Recovery Concentrate I feel like my skin is looking slightly more radiant but not significantly so.
Where I have noticed a bigger change, however, is that I’ve been having better nights sleep since using this! It must be that Lavender!
The biggest downside for me is that the oil does seem to sit on top of the skin and doesn’t absorb fully into my skin like some other oils I’ve tried do.
Some might also say it’s a pricey product, but if it works on you I wouldn’t say that is the case as you only need a couple of drops; so the bottle could very easily last you months and months. But as I’m not blown away about it, £38 spent on it does feel quite steep to have spent.
Overall, I think it’s an OK product but I can’t see myself repurchasing it, which is a shame as I really wanted to love this. But it just hasn’t blown me away the way some other Kiehl’s products have. The Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, for example, made an immediate and very noticeable difference to my skin but the Midnight Recovery Concentrate just hasn’t quite hit the mark for me.
