Beauty discoveries

I’ve brought a range of beauty and skincare products over the past few months, below are my favourite products which I think are brilliant. I’ve purposefully waited to blog about them because I wanted to use them for a decent period of time and make sure they are truly great.

The first product was mentioned to me by a friend back in October last year. It’s the Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover. I don’t wear waterproof make-up but I do use a lot of mascara to really intensify my long lashes, so removing all that mascara has historically been a chore to say the least! It’s also bad for the fine skin around the eye as I usually have to rub the eye area quite a lot to remove the make-up. All this changed when I started using the Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover – it is so easy to use and just melts the mascara from my lashes; removing it effortlessly and fully. This product had me from the very first use and still does. The formula feels very clean, there’s no stinging or harshness and it does the job brilliantly.

On the make-up remover bandwagon I decided I wanted to try a cleanser. I’ve watched a lot of Youtuber’s filming their skin care regimes and the various different products they use and how they use them and eventually decided to try Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. Even though I’d watched the video’s online I was still skeptical as to whether a cleanser would be any (or much) better then a regular face wash. Dampening my face slightly I pumped a small amount of the cleanser into my fingertips and massaged it onto my face as per the directions on the tube. I don’t know how this stuff works but my make-up, even my red lipstick, simply lifted off my face and was so easy to wipe off with my Makeup Eraser (which I brought from London Selfridge’s). I could feel the difference instantly – my skin felt so much cleaner after the first use of the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. Simply brilliant.

While I was in Kiehl’s I thought I’d check out their face creams to see if they have anything for dry skin. For my dry skin I really wanted something to help lock the moisture into my skin and keep it from drying out. I picked up their Kielhl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque. It’s a gel-like cream and has a slight stickiness feel to it which I’m not a massive fan of, but my skin does feel more hydrated than before. I wake up with really soft skin and feel this is a fantastic product.

The final product which has really blown me away this past month is the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. I know I’m incredibly late to the hype of this product and trust me I’m seriously annoyed at myself for not buying this sooner. This powder sets my foundation beautifully – seriously, like velvet. It doesn’t attach itself to the dry areas of my skin, it just gives the ultimate flawless finish. There’s really nothing else to say about this product other than it’s perfect! In fact the amazingness of this powder was evident before I’d even paid for it – I was in Selfridges at the Laura Mercier section looking for the powder but couldn’t find it. One of the saleswomen asked me if I needed any help and I started to say I was looking for the Laura Mercier.. and before I’d even finished my sentence she finished it for me with ‘Translucent Powder’. ‘Yes!’ I exclaimed, and she told me they don’t keep it on display as people keep stealing it. I thought ‘wow, it must be really good if people are prepared to break the law for it..’. But I’m a law abiding citizen and paid for it and will happily pay for the next one when the time comes to repurchase (and I definitely WILL repurchase!) It would be a crime not to!
